The 4th Annual FORBS Fundraiser Dinner for the Santa’s Special Delivery wrapped up last month and it was a great success! The chili dinner took place on a “cool,” crisp, 81-degree autumn day on September 19th, at the Elks Lodge #1812 in El Cajon. People came from all over San Diego for some good food, great company, and a chance to win a raffle or silent auction prize.
This year, our Santas and friends served some homemade chili, baked potatoes with all the fixings, salad, bread donated by the Texas Roadhouse Restaurant at the Parkway Plaza, and, of course, a few of Santa’s favorite cookies.
Our guests enjoyed, not just the food, but a small musical performance from our FORBS Santas, magic tricks, and a raffle and silent auction. The big ticket item this year, and the basket that raised the most amount of money, was a very special San Diego Padres memorabilia basket! Although, everyone who joined us for a merry evening was a winner!
Together, with dinner ticket sales, raffle ticket sales, the silent auction, and donations, we were able to raise more than $ 8000 that will go to our Santa’s Special Delivery, which benefits the families of breast cancer patients through the Breast Cancer Angels foundation.
We’d like to give a HUGE thanks to all our amazing, and generous volunteers and the more than 270 people who attended! This year’s event was our best yet!
And a very special thank-you to the Elks Lodge #1812 for their continued support!
